It was only a matter of time before “Israel” and Hezbollah would go to war again, after “Israel’s” defeat in the South Lebanon conflict.
“Israel” has a history of kidnapping and arresting Lebanese whenever they wish (just like everyone else in the world), and often they faced no repercussions for this. However in 2006 that changed in a big way.
On July 12th, 2006, Hezbollah carried out Operation Truthful Promise, as they went into “Israel” kidnapping IDF terrorists, attacking targets in “Israel”, leaving 8 IDF terrorists dead and 2 captured.
“Israel” began to carry out attacks from the land air and sea including targeting civilians, petrol stations, the Rafic Hariri airport, and television stations.
A lot of their bombings in the areas where it mattered though, were extremely ineffective, and even their puppets in the US said so.
“Israel” threw everything it could to try to win this war, flying nearly 12,000 combat missions, firing over 170,000 shells, it was such a disaster for them, the IDF faced an ammunition shortage after the war.
The biggest embarrassments for “Israel” would be the fact, they only destroyed 100 of 12,000 Hezbollah Katyusha rocket launchers, and losing in battles like in of Bint Jbeil, where they outnumbered Hezbollah 33 to 1 and lost. Battles like that, which Hezbollah won would have impressed the late great Gustaf Mannerheim, the hero who saved Finland from falling to Russian communist rule.
“Israel” again was blindsided by Hezbollah’s guerrilla warfare tactics and their success in countering “Israeli” attacks. One IDF official even said this is not Hamas, they are far stronger, far more organized, and trained.
“Israel” was very aggressive in their use of the tactics of trying to terrorize the absolute hell out of the population of Lebanon. IDF chief of staff Dan Hultz called for large buildings in Lebanon to be bombed by the IDF (not Hezbollah targets) and the IDF did an enormous amount of bombing of Lebanese civilian infrastructure. They destroyed hospitals, homes, schools, water and sewage treatment plants, electrical facilities, and airports. They also used cluster bombs on Lebanese civilian targets.
However, despite everything that “Israel” tried to in the war, it still ended in defeat for them, and Hezbollah has only gotten stronger and stronger since 2006.
