A leaked memo has come out from the Chinese government on the moves they are taking next regarding the $43 billion video game industry.
It no longer sees video games as entertainment but as a form of art to promote the proper Chinese values, history, and culture.
The main things set to be banned under these new regulations are gay relationships and pornographic sorts of scenes.
The new regulations are set to also demand that characters have a clearly defined gender and ensure the plots don’t violate Chinese morality. When it say the characters need to have a clearly defined gender, it means that men can’t look like lesbians, as the K Pop type people look like.
Chinese regulators have said no new domestic video games have been approved since July and foreign ones haven’t been since June.
Firms have been told by the Chinese government to “firmly boycott any ill culture such as money worshipping, effeminate males and boys’ love.”
Of course these Chinese firms have agreed to enforce these new regulations by the Chinese government and is implementing the regulations.
This comes after the Chinese government back in August limited the number of hours children are allowed to play video games to only three hours a week. Kids are now allowed to only play video games one hour a day from Friday to Sunday, with Holidays being excluded.
