Just a couple months ago India did have it tough with a massive surge in Covid cases getting as high as 414,000 cases a day at one point, but the most stormy of these waters has passed.
Only about 7% of the Indian population has been fully “vaccinated” however according to India’s sero-survey 2/3 of the population has the Covid-19 antibodies. It was further noted in the sero-survey that an overwhelming majority of those who have the antibodies have not been vaccinated whatsoever. The survey was carried out by the government run Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
In any path to natural herd immunity it often will see difficult times within it but it is not something that can’t be overcome if there is the willpower among a people to do it.
Between May 6th when the virus was raging at its worst in India and July 6th, the case total has plunged from 414,000 to 43,000. Keep in mind this is in a country of over 1 billion people as well, so with these plunging case numbers, it is undeniable the natural herd immunity path is winning in India.
