Former OPCW inspection team leader and engineering expert Ian Henderson testified at the UN Security Council, that their investigation into the alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma didn’t happen, from their findings, and that no chemical weapons attack took place at all.
Henderson worked for 12 years at the OPCW as an inspection team leader and engineering expert.
Mr. Henderson told the UN Security Council in no uncertain terms, that they didn’t believe there was any evidence that the chemical weapons attack even occurred.
Ian Henderson said that “We had serious misgivings that a chemical attack had occurred,” Henderson said, referring to the FFM team in Douma. He went on and said through months of work and research that they had no evidence any attack ever took place.
In Douma at the time of the alleged attack, a terror group called the “Jaysh al-Islam” had recently retreated from the city, and in fact they openly bragged about using chemical weapons against Kurdish forces (to the silence of the American political class who pretends they care about the Kurds.)
In May of 2019 there was a leaked internal OPCW assessment. Henderson who wrote the assessment said “dimensions, characteristics and appearance of the cylinders” in Douma “were inconsistent with what would have been expected in the case of either cylinder having been delivered from an aircraft,” adding that there is “a higher probability that both cylinders were manually placed at those two locations rather than being delivered from aircraft.”
In November another OPCW whistleblower came forward saying the leadership at the OPCW suppressed details that went against the narrative of “Assad gas his own people” and that three US government officials pressured the organization to make these claims up.
Wikileaks also released a large number of internal emails which revealed how the OPCW’s leadership had flat out doctored evidence in the investigation to blame Assad for something that he didn’t do.
China’s mission to the UN invited Henderson to testify in person but he didn’t get the visa waiver from the United States to be able to attend.
In a pre recorded video message Henderson said “My concern, which was shared by a number of other inspectors, relates to the subsequent management lockdown and the practices in the later analysis and compilation of a final report,” Henderson said.
“By the time of release of the interim report in July 2018, our understanding was that we had serious misgivings that a chemical attack had occurred,” Henderson explained.
Ian Henderson said that the OPCW created a new team after the interim report showed Assad didn’t carry out the chemical weapons attack. He said, “the so-called FFM core team, which essentially resulted in the dismissal of all of the inspectors who had been on the team deployed to locations in Douma and had been following up with their findings and analysis.”
Conveniently there was of course, there was a report that came out in March of 2019 that is now widely discredited.
“The findings in the final FFM report were contradictory, were a complete turnaround with what the team had understood collectively during and after the Douma deployments,” Henderson said in his testimony.
“The report did not make clear what new findings, facts, information, data, or analysis in the fields of witness testimony, toxicology studies, chemical analysis, and engineering, and/or ballistic studies had resulted in the complete turn-around in the situation from what was understood by the majority of the team, and the entire Douma team, in July 2018,” Henderson explained.
The expert went on and said, “I had followed up with a further six months of engineering and ballistic studies into these cylinders, the result of which had provided further support for the view that there had not been a chemical attack.”
The US government after exposed as having completely made up the claim Assad gassed his own people, and bombing Syria over the lie, blasted the Arria-Formula meeting. Keep in mind as the US government attacked the meeting, Russia invited the Director General of the OPCW as well as other officials from the organization but they refused to testify.
Acting American representative Cherith Norman Chalet praised the compromised and discredited OPCW, he attacked the Assad government, and he said “United States is proud to support the vital, life-saving work of the White Helmets,” does he mean the life saving work like staging attacks in acting, or collaboration in the brutal public executions by Wahhabi terrorists in parts of Syria not under the control of the Syrian government?
In a rational world, and in a rational impeachment trial, administration officials would be forced to testify over the lie that led to the US bombing Syria acting as the air force for Al-Qaeda and ISIS against Assad, as well as the pressuring of the OPCW to cover up the evidence in their investigation. We know that will not happen however given the fact the Trump administration lied just as the Obama administration lied.
