Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon has been missing for about a day, after a secretary of his went to police to file a report alleging he had sexually harassed her.
Park’s daughter told Seoul police, he left a message before he left that very much seemed to be a suicide note.
His dead body was found at Bugaksan Mountain in the north of the capital, which is also near the location his phone signal was last detected.
On Thursday he didn’t show up for work and he cancelled a meeting with a Presidential office official Kim Ji-hyeong, an official from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said in a statement to the Associated Press.
There had been rumors as to the whereabouts of the Mayor, including at Seoul National University hospital late on Thursday, where crowds gathered.
The police have yet to formally announce the cause of the death of Mayor Park Won-soon.
Park, was in his third term as the Mayor of Seoul, he is apart of President Moon Jae-in’s Democratic Party and he had been touted as a potential successor in the 2022 election, when President Moon is ineligible to run again.
